How to keep the kids entertained on a trip to Margaret River

Family getaways can be the best of fun. Exploring the surroundings, eating delicious food, sight-seeing amazing things whilst sharing all of this with your loved ones. However, when the kids are younger, it can often be a task settling their energetic minds. So, we’ve put together a list of fun activities for the kids (and you!).

If you’re going on a road trip from Perth-Margaret river, it’s nice to have some colouring in books or to play “I spy” or fun car games! Rather than leave them watching iPads or iPhones. Let them soak in the surroundings!

There is a huge range of things to do in Margaret River! From bike riding, hose riding, whale watching, surfing, exploring the caves, swimming at the beach and dining in one of the many child friendly wineries and breweries. Here’s a list of attractions and activities both you and the kids can enjoy.

1. A Maze’n Margaret River

The only hedge maze in Margaret River! Located on Bussell Highway, A Maze’n is complete with activities for all ages including the 3m high maze, botanical gardens, a café, jenga, giant chess and 18-hole mini golf! There is plenty of shade and seating to check out the beautiful gardens full of rare Western Australian Native Species, birds and butterflies. 2. The Horse Resort

Add some horsepower to your holiday! Where you’re young, old, experienced, a beginner or just want to watch, The Horse Resort has something for you. The horses are well trained and looked after to make your experiences as good as possible. 3. Mammoth Cave

Take the kids underground! During the self-guided tour through the cave, the kids will love to see the ancient fossil remains of long-extinct animals. Whilst listening to the audio tour through the headsets provided. You and the family are able to walk through the cave at your own pace, ending the tour with a walk through the Marri Forest. 4. Simmos Ice cream Factory

Who doesn’t like ice cream?! Not only does Simmo’s have 60 delicious flavours to choose from, they also have huge parkland for you and the kids to have a run around on, mini gold and a few BBQ for you to make use of on the day. There’s also a coffee shop for mum and dad!

5. Grannys Pool

Davies Road, Augusta WA
Relax by the ocean without the scary waves at Grannys Pool! Naturally sheltered with a reef and rock outcrop, turning the ocean into a swimming pool! Perfect for the young ones and a great spot for a picnic with the kids. Best of all-it’s free!

6. Brookwood Estate

The family owned Brookwood Estate boasts phenomenal views of the vineyard with a relaxed welcoming settling. Brookwood Estate is perfect for kids with an indoor play area. So, unwind with a glass of wine and let the kids entertain themselves!
